Community Trigger

What is the Community Trigger?

The Community Trigger was introduced in October 2014 to give victims and communities of persistent anti-social behaviour the opportunity to request a review of action taken by agencies such as Local Councils, housing providers and Police when they feel that action has not been taken to resolve the problem.

Who can apply?

The Community Trigger can be used by anyone – individuals, businesses or community groups if the following criteria is met:

  • If you have reported the same problem in relation to anti-social behaviour 3 or more times in the last 6 months and you are unhappy with the service you have received or you feel no action has been taken and the issue is still occurring.

How to activate the Community Trigger

Each of the six local Councils in Northumbria have an online form which needs to be completed to activate the Community trigger.

Once the Community Trigger has been activated, a process to review your case will be undertaken by all relevant agencies involved to address the issues or concerns that is causing you distress.
