In response to the impact of Covid-19 on the Voluntary Community & Social Enterprise Sector, Northumbria Violence Reduction Unit were successful in securing £135,612 from the Home Office as part of a £2.9 million package to support frontline charities working on violence prevention projects.
This funding, allocated to the 18 Violence Reduction Units, will be used to support smaller charities providing critical frontline services for children and young people. The funding will allow services to increase their provision to meet demand as well as continuing day to day activities.

In October 2020, following the award of the above grant, the Home Office provided a further £94,520 to support youth organisations during the winter months – specifically to provide detached youth work and engagement opportunities for young people. The funding was distributed to 11 organisations and they can be viewed here.
