Northumbria Police & Crime Commissioner (NPCC) successfully bid for and received £499,687.68 from the Ministry of Justice Covid-19 Extraordinary Funding to help those vital services currently supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence to continue, and ensure that their services are readily available and accessible during the current pandemic. This funding will help meet the additional costs local organisations have incurred or will incur whilst adapting their services during the Covid-19 situation, as well as enabling them to cope with any increases in demand during this time as a result of the pandemic.
COVID-19 restrictions have meant that services needed to adapt the way they operate so they could continue to provide essential support; this fund has provided these services with the resources they need to carry out their work in a safe and socially distant way, ensuring they have enough staffing capacity and resources to meet current or future demand.
