CADA fund 2021 – 2022

The Northumbria OPCC has received notification of a further one-year allocation of CADA Funding from the Home Office for services which meet the needs of children and young people affected by domestic abuse.  In response, officers from the PCC’s Violence Reduction Unit have developed the following funding offer, using the evidence of ongoing gaps and variations in service delivery highlighted by a recent Northumbria-wide mapping exercise.

Outline of Work Required:

The Northumbria CADA Fund 2021-22 will be used to enhance the availability and/or capacity of the following key services for children and young people affected by domestic abuse:

  • 1: 1 therapeutic support that is trauma-informed, DA-specific and available to younger children (aged 4 years +) as well as older children and young people.
  • Group work (Children and Young People) that is DA specific and suitable for children aged 7+ years of age
  • Group-work (Parent and Child) which is DA specific and which aims to address the damage a domestic abuser can do to the relationship between the non-offending parent and their child(ren).

Timescales:

  • Expressions of interest, will need to be submitted by COP on Mon 14th June 2021.
  • Assessments will be made in the following 10 working days and successful applicants will be informed as soon as possible after this date.
  • Subject to agreement from the HO, we are aiming for all funded projects to begin w/c Monday 5th July 2021.

Providers:

  • The Police and Crime Commissioner would like to receive expressions of interest from experienced organisations/services whose core business is supporting children and/or victims of domestic abuse.
  • We are interested in hearing from those who wish to develop a new service that will help to fill a known gap, as well as from those who wish to build on their existing provision in ways that will strengthen what is already available and offer additional capacity.
  • We will consider submissions from smaller providers wishing to focus on their own local authority area, from two or more providers wishing to work collaboratively and from larger services wishing to work across a number of local authority areas.

Funding:

  • The Northumbria OPCC has up to £64k available for each of the 6 local authority areas covered by the office (£384k in total).
  • This money available for each LA area will need to be split across the 3 services outlined above.

How to Respond:
