Northumbria PCC Consultation Responses 2020

Kim McGuinness, in her capacity of Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), responds to various consultations and inquiries held by the Government and other agencies, providing evidence and insight into a wide range of topics relating to crime and policing. By doing so, the Commissioner aims to influence future policy and ensure the views and needs of Northumbria are put forward.

The PCC has provided a response to the following consultations:

October 2020

  • Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) Race Disparity Working Group consultation on local best practice on tackling race disparities faced by BAME groups
  • Ministry of Justice (MoJ) Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme Review 2020
  • Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) consultation on guidance to pre-trial therapy for victims of sexual violence
  • Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) call for evidence on Covid-19 impact on mental health partners and policing

November 2020

  • Home Office Serious Violence Reduction Orders consultation on a new court order to target known knife and offensive weapon carriers
  • Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) consultation on North Northumbria Courts
  • Government Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities call for evidence on ethnic disparities and inequality in the UK

December 2020

  • Law Commission consultation on hate crime laws and definitions
  • Ministry of Justice Root and Branch review of the parole system
