Court Observers Panel

Since January 14 adult rape trials, both male and female, have been observed by 11 panel members.
We are focusing on the use of myths and stereotypes, how the victim and witnesses are supported and how the police collate their evidence to ensure best evidence is produced and the most appropriate witnesses are called.
Arcelia Cordeo informs:
“I have observed that we can make changes in our system that can provide a more supportive and understanding approach to victims.”
We will share our findings and work with our partners within the Criminal Justice System to ensure the experience victims and witnesses have is the best possible given the circumstances.
