Comment from the Northumbria Commissioner on the PCC by election win for Labour’s Alan Billings in South Yorkshire

“I offer my warmest congratulations to Alan Billings on his election as Police and Crime Commissioner. I was involved in the campaign at the start when Alan decided to take on a strategy like Northumbria’s Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, with special emphasis on the abuse of young people.
“Ed Miliband, Alan and I had a very informative visit to Doncaster Women’s Aid. I know that Alan will do this job well and without fear. He has committed to delivering on his promises and I look forward to working with him on policy that will help reduce crime for all our communities.”
