Following yesterday’s launch of counter-terrorism awareness week, Northumbria’s Police & Crime Commissioner, Vera Baird is working in partnership with our communities to ensure we keep Tyne & Wear and Northumberland safe.
The awareness message from this week’s national campaign is
Be alert!
Vera Baird QC said “Thousands of people make daily trips around our region and Northumbria Police work hard to keep our communities safe. The Police receive lots of information from the community on a range of topics, and all we are asking is that people continue to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police. By working together we will keep our towns and cities safe”.
Mrs Baird added “local people’s eyes and ears are a great surveillance tool, if local people tell the police, or bus drivers, train drivers about anything they see suspicious, the police stand every chance of detecting and stopping any incidences that could occur. Protecting our region remains a top priority for myself and Northumbria Police, we will continue to work with all agencies”
