Information: Policing of anti-fracking protest in Lancashire

1st August 2017

Following queries regarding the policing of anti-fracking protests at the PNR Caudrilla site in Lancashire, Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner Dame Vera Baird QC, has ascertained that a sergeant and six constables were sent by the chief constable of Northumbria Police, from July 31st and will remain until August 4th, in response to a mutual aid request from Lancashire police to all forces, co-ordinated by the NPOCC (National Police Co-ordination Centre).

The response provided is dependent on a force’s capacity at the time of the request. All operational decisions remain under the remit of the Chief Constable and all costs are fully recovered from the requesting police force.
